Gaining Weight For No Good Reason

by John Bonk on January 17, 2011

Sometimes weight loss does not make sense.  It can make the overall journey very hard.  As of Saturday morning I was down 1.2 pounds, then after my hard work out on Saturday my weight spiked the next morning and stayed that way on Monday.  If you check my blog something similar happened starting back in September.  My weight loss stayed about 2 pounds per week but it was small ups and huge downs, I hope that that does not start again.  I really hope to make up this gain this week by having a good week.

Last Monday’s Weight: 229.4

Today’s Weight: 233

Pounds GAINED This Week: 3.6

Estimated Weight loss per myfooddiary.com: 2.4 Pounds

Total weight loss: 83 Pounds

I really took a hardcore approach to this week.  I did some sort of cardio be it running, biking, elliptical, or hockey all 7 days.  I was even able to wake up twice and workout in the morning before work instead of the evening.  On Saturday I burned around 1300 calories by doing the distances of my June sprint triathlon in the gym.  I swam 600 yards, biked 13 miles, and ran 3.1 miles.  I was wondering where I was endurance wise and really wanted to test out running on shot legs.  I was actually surprised that the running felt just as good if not better after the swim and bike.

Food wise this week I made an effort to keep my lunches small this week.  By keeping my lunches small I was able to better control my calorie totals for the day.  By eating 500 calorie lunches instead of 800 calorie lunches it was easier for me to keep my daily totals above the 2 pound loss per week.  As you can see, every day this week went well.

I plan on trying to keep this hardcore attitude going so I have a good chance of meeting my short term goals.  I still want to hit 215 pounds by March 8th but that goal has become much more difficult especially when I am having problems predicting my loss.

Thanks for reading,

John
