Somehow I managed to lose a pound over the last week, but I did so while making numerous poor decisions despite a week that I should have been able to do well. This week has me nervous, because it is really important that I keep my streak going (losses 5 weeks in a row) but mostly because it is Christmas week and if I am not careful it could be a bad one.
So, I’m going to try to do something I’ve never done before. I have written about a week of meals before, but after the fact. This time I am going to try to walk through each day before they happen in the hopes it helps me. Should be an interesting exercise.
Here we go:
Monday – I’m on the road Monday and Tuesday, which always presents a challenge. In fact I’m already on the road, writing this from my hotel room, and I have already shopped for some of the food I plan to eat over the next couple of days. Nice to have a room with a kitchenette. For breakfast I will be having oatmeal, a banana and a yogurt. For lunch I’m going to go to Subway and have a turkey sub, without any oils, mayo or cheese. I’ll have apples instead of chips. For dinner I will be making a couple of lettuce wraps with turkey, and I will be indulging in a thin slice of pepperjack cheese. I’ve got a banana and carrots for snacks.
Tuesday – Breakfast will be oatmeal, a banana and yogurt again, same snacks as Monday with a banana and carrots. I’ll probably do Subway for lunch again. Dinner is where I will be challenged because I have a 2.5 hour drive home over dinner time and I have been known to stop for fast food. I think I’m going to stop for a coffee and a protein bar and hope it tides me over until I get home, as which point I’ll try to go to bed without eating too much, maybe just nibble on some fruits and vegetables.
Wednesday – I may make a simple omelet if I have time, or perhaps I’ll feel like a third day in a row of oatmeal. If I feel like I don’t have time and I’m not super hungry I may just wait to get a banana-nut muffin at work. I’ll bring or buy a banana for a snack. Because I will have been gone for a couple of days I may not have enough fixings for a bento box lunch but if I do that’s what I’ll bring for lunch, otherwise I’ll have a salad in the cafeteria. If it’s cold I may indulge in a cup of chili. I’m thinking I’ll raid the pantry and freezer for a decent dinner if I can.
Thursday – Here is where things start to get interesting as I have this day off from work and my normal routines will be out of whack. Depending on how I feel I may go very light for breakfast with a protein shake. I’ll be doing grocery shopping for supplies for the weekend so I’ll hopefully make good decisions on what to buy for lunch and dinner this day, I’m thinking a lot of salad fixings.
Friday – Friday is Christmas Eve and this will be the toughest day of the week. I should be able to be ok until dinner but we’ll be going over to my parents in the afternoon and they always have a great spread where I will be tempted be great food and drink. I do plan to have a little of everything, and here’s hoping I can show some restraint.
Saturday – Christmas Day shouldn’t be too bad, we’ll probably have some traditional Christmas quiche in the morning and I’ll try to be good the rest of the day, taking onto consideration how Christmas Eve went. If it went poorly (I’m really going to try not to let it) then I may need to bear down on Christmas Day.
Sunday – This day doesn’t really count in my week since I weigh myself in the morning but I thought I’d throw it out there because no matter how good or bad this week goes I could start the next week off poorly because we are hosting a big family Christmas on this day and I’ll be cooking – and that means nibbling and that means I tend to overeat. Hopefully I’ll have had such a great week that I’ll feel OK with a little indulging on this special day.
I don’t know how well this will work, but it does make me know the week could be good if I focus, particularly if I do well on Christmas Eve. If I am not careful and have one bad day it could ruin the rest of the week so I’ll be working hard to not let it.
Wish me luck this week, six weeks of losing in a row would be awesome for me.

Good luck John. I follow you on twitter from #7daychip
Sounds like a great plan. I am like you and a not so great day could turn into more days, weeks etc. I am really going to try to indulge and be liberal w/ my choices on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but both these days usually set me up for days of binging afterward.
I am working towards my #30daychip through the group. I started the day after my birthday weened (which put me out of control despite my best efforts) and today is day 14 (provided I get through before bed lol).
Like you, I plan to “I do plan to have a little of everything, and here’s hoping I can show some restraint.” Thanks for the inspiration
