Hello. My name is John, yes another John. I started blogging my weight loss 265 days ago. About a month ago I decided that I wanted to try to get more exposure for my blog, The Journey of a Fat Man. I started searching the internet for other weight loss blogs, especially those by men, and ran into johnisfit. I quickly realized that his journey had slowed and he had gained back a lot of weight, but to my surprise a few days later he updated the site and set out on a new journey to get the weight off again. This time I am going to be joining for the ride.
Let me begin with a little background about my weight. I am currently 26 but I have been overweight for about 26 years. I seriously never remember not being fat. I have vivid memories of being overweight in first grade. I have tried diet pills multiple times (15 pounds lost each time), Adkins (40 pounds lost), and Ally (0 pounds lost). I had also tried Myfooddiary.com, this is a website that basically just counts your calories and suggests the total calories for you along with fat/carb/protein combinations that are generally safe. There is nothing special about it. Eat less, move more. I tried this back in college, after college, and well … now. Third time is a charm, I learned something new each time I did it and finally ironed out the kinks.
So, how overweight have I been? I remember being over 225 in middle school and therefore being too fat to play football. I was between 225 and 265 in high school (Adkins bring me to 225). When I went to college I went up to 305 my freshman year followed by drops to 270 ish every summer because of being more active then back to the 300′s. I finally moved to Chicago after college and completed the Chicago Olympic Triathlon. My training took me from 305 to 280. Then I slowly went back up and ended up at my highest (morning) weight ever 316 pounds.
My dad got remarried in March of 2010, I was the best man. I was already feeling bad about the size my tux ended up being and was questioning how I was going to face my family as large as I had become. I was always big, but once you pass 300 you lose the right to call yourself big boned, I was fat. I got called out for not hitting on a girl by my cousin, and in his rant he questioned if I was different, implying that I was gay because I was scared to hit on a girl. The truth is I was nervous because I was 316 pounds and she was super hot. I decided then, that I was going to lose weight and I was going to no longer be nervous.
Well as of today I am down 77.4 pounds. I have had to buy a lot of new clothes when the cloths that I had in my closet that used to be to tight to wear became too loose on me. My jeans went from a tight 40 to a loose 36. There are plenty of progress pictures on my personal blog at themindofbonk.blogspot.com.
My plan is to post here once a week as a supplement to what I do on my personal blog. A weekly update if you will.
Almost forgot. My goal is 200 pounds, initially. Then 10% body fat, it may take a long time but that is the dream.

Nice job, as a person who went from 336 pounds to 172 today.. I can tell you that it’s possible. It will take time but as long as you keep at it and do it the right way you will reach your goal. You look much happier in the second photo. Keep that happy feeling and reach you goal. Good luck to you.
Cheers,
