Post Christmas weigh-in

I get nervous when I go the entire week without weighing myself.  Monday mornings are my official weigh in time and the only weights I record, but sometimes I like to cheat and sneak a peak on Thursday or Friday morning to check my progress.  This week, I didn’t do that.  I wanted to put the scales aside and focus on the task at hand: Christmas.  I kicked Christmas’s ass this week.  While the majority of the people were stuffing hams, gravy, cheesy things, chocolately things, and coconutty things down their throats, I was rocking the baked/grilled chicken breasts and veggies.  It was a struggle, but I conquered the Christmas beast.  Now it’s time to reap my rewards.

I stepped on the scales this morning, scared that my big loss last week would nullify my hard work this past week.  I was worried that somehow by osmosis, the calories from the pies that were in my presence had jumped through the air and attached themselves to me.  When the moment of truth came, it was not a huge loss, but I smiled because I lost weight.  Christmas week and I lost weight.  Take that shit Santa!

This morning’s weight, 425.6

Total lost this week, 1.2 lbs .  Not a huge number, but I’m happy with it.

Total lost all together, 35.5 lbs.  Within striking range of the 40 lbs mark and almost 10 lbs away from my 10% total weight lost short-term goal.

Now that Christmas is in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to move forward.  I have a little over 3 short months until Spring Training.  I’m moving into my own Winter Training to get in shape for my trip to Florida to experience the thrill of Major League Baseball’s spring training.  The first thing on the agenda this week is to join the gym.  Directly after work I’m going to the gym to sign up for a membership.  As I explained in an earlier post, I intend to do the early morning, before work workouts.  I even got up extra early this morning to try to get my body used to the early morning hours.

I’m going to make my workout schedule more structured starting this week too.  Since I’m not relying on a buddy to be home or have time to work out, I’m able to pretty much set my own schedule.  So I’m going to lift on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.  That means I only have to workout before work 2 days.  That’s do-able.  I plan on getting up early all days of the week though.  I will be doing my walks in the evenings on lifting days (except for maybe Saturday), but on the days I don’t lift, why not walk in the morning (weather permitting)?  If I find a big difference in my energy levels on Tuesdays and Thursdays as opposed to my “off” days, then I’m not opposed to doing Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the gym either.  I’ll play that one by ear.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.  I sure did.  It’s almost time to put this year to rest and tackle the new one ahead!

Usually I hate the post Christmas weigh in, but having a personal trainer motivates me even more to eat healthy. My biggest fear is having our weigh in session and realizing that you’ve taken 10 steps back. And find that when I have a personal trainer to work with, I have a goal not to get yelled at once in a while…lol!
I don’t know if you’re from Toronto, or anyone frequents this site is from Toronto but I highly recommend my personal trainer and his studio. My problem with loosing weight was not the issue of being lazy, just hated being with all the “hot bodied” people at gym and feeling insecure. I LOVE going to Roland Semprie Rosedale, because I feel like I’m working out in the comfort of my own home, and it’s not your ‘ high traffic’ gym, just small and quaint…lol! I’ve lost 25 pounds! And actually enjoy if any Torontonians want to check it out I posted the website above. Good luck, your blog is great!
