I had a small loss on the scale this morning: two-tenths of a pound. Yet small as that may seem, it’s positive movement, and takes me down to a new low. Weight loss, like many things, is all about building up some momentum. Getting up every morning. Hitting the gym. Working out hard. Eating well. Drinking water. Getting enough sleep. You need to start getting a couple of those pieces to the overall puzzle working for you. You need to string together a couple small victories. Build that momentum up. Once it starts rolling, it’s hard to stop.

Sounds like you’re hinting at the new program from Weight Watchers that starts this week. The timing is suspicious.
They just announced a brand new program which combines the best of both of their previous plans and it is called “Momentum”. Weird, huh?
I do agree that the demographic is mostly geared towards women. However, earlier last year, they released the online Weight-Watchers for Men website (which is the same website with a focus on men if you setup your profile on there as a male). Very good articles and more realistic “manly” recipe choices.
However, the meetings still seem geared towards women and mothers. They need to start setting up a few “meetings for men” to expand their demographic. They did this in Australia and it seemed to work well (so I hear).
At least you are making progress regardless of the program. This website is not to focus on a specific program, but to emphasize men losing weight (and some of the basic issues related to guys fighting the bulge). Though I enjoy WW, I know it’s not for most guys (it also makes a difference on the WW leader). Find what does work and stick with it. That’s the point here.
Nope – don’t do WW; not that I have anything against it. Well, I guess I tried it years ago, but it’s demographic didn’t really include me.
Momentum is so important. It’s what I typically lose then throw it all in. I’m halfway there so I needed this reminder to keep my momentum so I can get to the next level.
I have stuck with WW in spite of the high estrogen content. Of course, that hasn’t really been the case during this term in school… I think I have gained back almost 15 lbs since Sept.
BUT.. .I FULLY intend on getting back on the wagon. I WILL make my goal before my birthday. I have also thought of doing the training to be a WW leader and (as Tim Taylor would say) give it MORE POWER!!
Dunno why I heard a “Muahahaha!!!!” after that last sentence…
