Week 1 of the War on Sugar
Week 1 of the War on Sugar

And here we are, one week later after my 3.6 pound gain to find myself having gained another 1.2 pounds. I can come up with all the excuses I want, but I did it. No one else did this to me. I didn’t exercise like I did before vacation. I didn’t eat right like I did before (and during) vacation. I did everything wrong and only I can change that.

First of all, I need to take care of me. I’ve put too many responsibilities on my own shoulders and I waste all my time with stuff that I don’t need to worry about. This means:

  • I am going to cut back on my news feeds in Google Reader. I don’t have time to spend reading all the time (especially on stuff that I don’t do anything about).
  • I am going to focus more on taking care of the bills on a timely manner (I tend to forget a lot and make late payments and that adds to my overall stress).
  • I will make myself go to be earlier than I have been. This may mean missing out on some stuff, but if that stuff was the news feeds and worry about late payments, I’ll be sleeping better and won’t be missing much.
  • I will get up when the alarm goes off and be ready to workout every morning. I won’t always be running, but I will be getting in some forms of exercise (100 pushups or my Wii Fit are appropriate when not running).
  • I will have my breakfast at home (instead of fast food) and make my lunch every day for work.
  • I will declare War on Sugar once more. However, as usual, my timing is impeccable as this Sunday is my 39th birthday. I will only allow myself to indulge when we have my birthday dinner.
  • I will make time for what I want to do (I have so many unfinished projects).
  • I will encourage my wife to join me in some of these commitments as well as having her help me meet some of these goals.

I’m sick and tired of these gains and I’m ready to get to my goal of losing 100 pounds.
