Week 1 of the War on Sugar
This week went all to carp. I let in a little bit of sugar here and there and pretty soon, I was having WAY too much sugar. Saturday was supposed to be my sugar day and it was… too much so. And then it was followed by Sunday at Six Flags over Texas (where I had soda and funnel cake and then Marble Slab ice cream afterwards). Finally, Monday was the Yom Teruah (Feast of Shouting or Trumpets) observed at our congregation, which meant a potluck and several different desserts (and I tried every one of them… a few more than once). Oh yeah, and three cookies at work.
What does that mean? You guessed it… It’s week three of War on Sugar! I refuse to back down this week and I won’t be having any sugar if I can help it. I need to get back on track. Next week will be the last weigh-in before our camping trip. I won’t be having too many sweets there, but still, I know I can end up eating too much. I plan on taking some of my workout clothes and try to get in a few runs. I can’t slack up just because I’m on vacation (in fact, I’m looking forward to enjoying the quiet mornings up there doing a run with several small hills; last year I could barely keep up walking with one of the women who was much older than I; this year I can walk with her to slow down).
One of the things I enjoyed at Six Flags was not worrying one bit about being too big for one of the rides. It came close in years past. One time at the Texas State Fair, I couldn’t get on one of the rides because it wouldn’t buckle closed. The only problem I had was banging my knees a few times just because of my height.
I’m gonna lose before this trip and I plan on coming back losing even more. I know I can do it and I’ll still have a good time.

My sweet tooth get me into trouble too. There is no such thing as “a little sugar” to me; either I avoid it and feel better or I indulge, which leads to overindulging.
Congrats on your success so far.
