New Guy Introduction
09-17-08
Hey everybody - it’s the new guy (hi, New Guy)!
My name is Will, and I am blogging through my weight loss efforts and lifestyle transformation at 4XLT. I was invited to come be a part of what’s going on here at Fatbloggers when John ran across my blog.
But who am I? That’s a really good question. You can read through my weight loss story on the 4XLT “About” page if you want the full-length version, but here’s the basics of it:
I’ve always been a big guy. You know the type; you probably went to school with them: the tall, large, built like a truck so the football coaches made him play the line type. I graduated high school in 2001 around 300 pounds, but when I went to college, the wheels completely fell off.
…And continued to fall off for two years after I graduated from Oklahoma State University. By the beginning of 2008, I weighed in at a whopping 440 pounds and was wearing size 4XLT shirts.
4XLT - that’s X X X X - that’s four Extras in front of the Large and Tall. That’s just disgusting. I knew I had to change, because I was sick and tired of my life and how my large size kept me from so many things. How odd that is was those comically large shirts that became my wake up call!
Now, eight months down the road, I’ve lost over a hundred pounds and am getting close to 330 pounds. My goal is to be under 300 by December 12th - time for my sister’s wedding.
It’s been a total reboot of my lifestyle that’s allowed me to make the progress I’ve seen thus far. The mental aspect has been, by far and away, the most important. When I don’t stay sharp and keep my goals out in front of me, then I fail to drop the pounds, each and every time. Past that, the health triangle of proper eating, weight training, and cardio has taken off the fat. And supporting it all has been the community aspect of blogging my adventures in an ever-growing group of health bloggers.
So - here’s to the future!
