Sometimes I think having something to focus on (like eliminating sugar) is great to do just because it gives you something to hang on to, mentally, to keep you conscious of what you're eating all the time. For a while, I wasn't using any artificial sweeteners, and while the chemical benefit was debatable, the mental benefit wasn't -- I thought about everything I ate, changed some habits (to skip diet coke), etc. So, good strategy either way!

Well, I'm at the end of day 2 of the sugar war. So far I have managed to not consume any sugar based snacks or desserts or drinks. I've had two serious confrontations and I walked away a victor from both (yesterday was Krispy Kreme donuts someone brought to work; today was cheesecake bites brought to work for someone's birthday; I said "no" to both). I've felt more hungry than usual, but I'm fighting hard. The weekend will be tougher, but I plan on sticking to this.

And I got in 4 workouts this week. I'd make it 5 tomorrow, but I'm gonna have to go into work early since one of my other co-workers is taking a 5-day weekend. Maybe I'll get in some exercise over the weekend.

To all readers: If you had to give up one thing right now for a week that would help you lose weight, what would it be? And what is stopping you from choosing to start that week right now?
