Those kids were skinny and it wasn't just from working on farms etc. They were skinny because coming out of the depression, food was scarce. In today's America with food stamps etc its hard to imagine, but back then, poor meant going hungry at times. I also think today's diet is full of food that are addictive and bad for us.
