I feel queasy just looking at it

HT to Scott @ Straight to the Bar

I love watching programs on The Travel Channel. I feel that Anthony Bourdain has the BEST job on the PLANET! They have a show on called Food Palaces that focuses on superlative dining experiences, such as the best barbecue joints, diners that serve GIANT portions or the best hamburgers. Recently they had one on fried foods. They traveled to dining establishments across the country that have the best fried foods. There was a place in Mississippi that ‘invented’ the deep fried pickle. I don’t remember where it was but there was a place that had (no kidding) a deep fried hamburger! Just watching the program made my stomach rumble, and it wasn’t from hunger!

So I see this picture in my blog reader this morning…

The originating site describes it this way…

Originally I was planning on making a French fry coated, bacon-wrapped hot dog, but thought that the inclusion of the hotdog was largely pointless. Why not just head straight for the bacon?

Why NOT indeed? Everyone knows that everything is better with bacon!

French fries attached to the bacon with thick corndog batter.

So, let’s recap… BACON + FRIES + BATTER + GREASE = A QUEASY FAT TUB O’GOO!

  1. Cheers for the link John.

I’m also glad to see some more Bourdain goodness on the box. I love his books; and the TV shows have a very similar sense of humour. Good stuff.

  2. I am very leary of counting up the WW points for that monstrosity. Ugh. Just the thought of that much grease makes my stomach churn. Lot different from the old days for me.

  3. I feel like I just gained 8 lbs AND clogged up my arteries just staring at the picture the way I did (and no, not in that oooh I want naughty food sorta way.. more like this-is-a-creative-way-to-stack-on-unwanted-love-handle-type-calories sorta way)

  4. There’s a place that has a battered, deep-fried Snickers bar too. I agree though… the thought of anyone putting that in their body makes me feel a little sick at the stomach as well. :/

  5. I just came across an article titled “America’s Unhealthiest Drinks Exposed” (http://health.yahoo.com/experts/eatthis/5027/americas-unhealthiest-drinks-exposed) by Men’s Health magazine… When you see the #1 drink and the data about it… ugh… it’s just as bad if not worse.
