Tick Tock…

Cross Published on I Reject Your Reality

Its a beautiful spring day and I am sitting on my a$$ cruising the internets. So it seems ironic that I come across The Death Clock.

Even as I approach the 100 lb. benchmark on my journey to a lesser me; changing the way I eat and move, The Death Clock marches on. According to its calculations I have about 32 years, the ’sudden stop’ will occur on April 18, 2040. Just as I expected; I might have my student loans paid off by then.

Enough of the gloom, lets put the happy spin on this. As with most things ‘weight related’ the Death Clock is using the BMI to gauge my overall health, but it cannot conceive that someone would have a BMI of over 45. Well I did, my starting BMI was 52!  Since the clock only calculates to 45, by knocking the last 45 lbs off, I have also added 5 years to my life.

So, after I knock the remaining 70 lbs off this shrinking body I will add a whopping TWO years to my life. Marking time until April 2042, at the age of 72. I still don’t like it.

I only have one thing to say to that… CARPE DIEM! (I gotta get started on my ‘before I die list”)

My person motto is Carpe Catch’em - but of course I love to fish!

The Death Clock is an ominous site. I had a roommate who was an intern at a local hospital. He told me that if you smoke, you will almost certainly die from it. Maybe you would last longer, but eventually, it catches you.

Being grossly overweight is the same thing. But what’s worse is how it impacts the quality of your life along the way.

I quit drinking to stop all the bad things that came with it - I don’t drink now because my life it better without it. Being fit is reward in itself.
