Weight Warriors: Week 9

My Personal Trainer said something last week that kinda irked me. She said, “As hard as you’re working, you should be losing alot more weight than you are”.
Since I began taking this weight loss thing seriously; I have always wanted the scale to move faster than it is, and it has been a tough job to keep going when the scale isn’t moving. Its that pesky American/Infomercial mentality… Lose 50 lbs in 5 days with this pill/drink/gadget/etc.!
All of us Weight Warriors, the ones that aren’t in the newspaper or posting their progress (or lack thereof) on a blog, look at the BIG PICTURE! What did you weigh ONE year ago (or ONE month)? I weighed 369 lbs on April 6, 2007… take the victories you have and celebrate them! NOT at Dairy Queen or with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s, but you can go to the store and try on some new clothes (you don’t have to buy them). Trust me, it will make you feel like a MILLION BUCKS!
Right now, I am wearing a new pair of size 46 pants, that is a FAR CRY from the 58’s I was wearing when I started. And my Doctor is saying that I am doing just fine. Slow and steady will keep it off in the long run. Take a look at the results below; 13 lbs (divided by) 9 weeks = 1.4 lbs/week… not bad.
Let us not forget, that I have lost 88 lbs since I began this project in December 2006!
Anton, A drum roll please…
Week 0 - 317.2 lbs. (02/04/08)
Week 1 - 312.9 lbs.
Week 2 - 311.7 lbs.
Week 3 - 308.0 lbs.
Week 4 - N/A
Week 5 - 307.3 lbs.
Week 6 - 305.1 lbs.
Week 7 - N/A
Week 8 - 306.9 lbs.
Week 9 - 304.4 lbs. (04/07/08)
Total Loss - 12.8 lbs.

And you finally overcame that gain from the vacation week! Always knew you could. I gotta give myself a push or you’re gonna pass me!

You said it exactly. You are doing this thing they way it needs to be done. Slow and steady is also the best way to ensure long term success. Taking it off 1 to 2 pounds a week gives you a lot better chance of keeping it off for life.
Nice drop this week.

John, there’s a contest for a small reward and then there’s the rest of your life.
Fast weight loss usually includes losing muscle mass along with the fat. That’s a recipe for regain later. Besides, everyone’s body is different and will react a little differently to an exercise/eating routine. Some of us work hard for small losses each week. Others achieve larger losses with less effort.
Life’s tough… but the reward for your hard work will be a better life!
I’m with everyone else, good drop, good work!

Fire the trainer and hire one with a clue.
