Ever had a big project that seemed impossible to complete because it was so complex? One of the philosophies of "Getting Things Done" is to break it down into its individual components and make one small part of it your next task. Basically, divide the large project into smaller chunks that don't look so complex. Get it down small enough and each step appears to be easy compared to the beast we stared up at.

Turn this idea around to weight-loss. We do have that one big goal and it seems unattainable. However, I think we need to start dividing up that goal into smaller goals. Something that is more likely to be reached because it doesn't seem so hard.

When I set my new goal to bring my total weight loss to 50 pounds by summer, I discovered that because I had already lost about 33 pounds, I only had to lose 17 pounds to reach that goal. I was already two-thirds of the way there. I only have to lose a pound a week to make it. Then it didn't seem so hard.

I'll make my goal in the end by making short-term goals that can be reached. I think it's time you did the same Joshua. Stop staring at the beast and start fighting the smaller minions. Eventually the beast is worn down and defeated.
