A Little Extra Motivation

I got back on the treadmill today after a taking it easy for the last two weeks and I won’t lie to you, it was tough going for the first couple of miles. Then inspiration arrived in the form of a man named Dan.

Dan got on the next treadmill over, cranked it to 8.5 miles an hour and started a conversation. While I was huffing and puffing away at 5.5 miles an hour, barely able to talk, Dan was chatting away as if we were sitting at Caribou Coffee enjoying a nice latte.

Turns out Dan is a trialthalte and a friend of my friend Anthony who is also a triathlete. They both competed in this years Iron Man World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

Normally I stop running after I reach my 5K, but today I hit 3.1 miles without even noticing and just kept on running and chatting with Dan. Before Dan got on the Treadmill I had to take two walk breaks. After he got on the treadmill I forgot all about my aching legs and just kept on trucking.

Thanks Dan, for helping me get back into the swing of things.

Happy New Year everybody! I for one am really excited to see where this new year is going to take us.

Goal: 220 lbs. ACCOMPLISHED
NEW GOAL: 214
lots of lbs. to go

p.s. Sorry about missing my weigh-in last week. Honestly I completly forgot about it. As you can see I did a bit of overindulging over the holiday’s. The white t-shirts will return this Friday.

I am running a 5K with my dad for St. Patty’s day. I may sign up for a few more over the summer.
