Just a Friendly Reminder…

If you are currently a member of Weight-Watchers or plan to become one over the next few weeks, GET THERE EARLY FOR YOUR MEETING!  I dunno what it is about the new year that makes everyone want to suddenly join. ;)  (Of course, the current special of free registration doesn’t hurt attendance.)  Anyway, the lines will be extra long with new members who are filling out paperwork and weighing in and paying for the first time.

In fact, if you’re a long-time member, volunteer to help out in passing out registration forms and stuff to help everyone along.  Nothing like having a new member show up at the counter without knowing about the paperwork and options.  Also, if possible, reserve new purchases for a future meeting or wait until after the meeting to buy snack bars and stuff.  That will allow more time to process the newbies and make everyone happier!

Just try to be more patient during this time and encourage the new guys/gals who have decided to take that first step.  They may become a longtime member and a new friend.  After a few weeks, this will slowly return to normal.

Good point, Charles. I’ll need to keep that in mind when I go this Thursday. Just wondering, can we sign up online and go to the meeting with info in hand? I’ll go to the site and check it out.

Well, I’m hardly the expert on the options, but I believe if you purchase the monthly pass online, you can skip the registration at the meeting. Then you only have to weigh-in and stay for the meeting. Just inform the leader that you’ve signed up online and have not had the “Getting Started” session.

However, if you are just wanting to “check out” what Weight-Watchers is all about, you can attend the meeting and just pay the normal weekly fee (without the setup/registration costs in most participating areas; use their website to find out which areas are participating in this program).

I finally got a response from my leader who noted the following:

You can go ahead and purchase the Monthly Pass online and bring in the temporary pass you will print at home. Then, you may sit in the meeting with the clipboard, fill it out, and then step out to join when there is no line.

I have been using monthly pass for almost a year, it is really a time saver. It is even more so now with the influx of resolute people.
I had a hard time not looking around and judging those that came thinking WW is a quick fix. It is a 100%waste of money if you can’t be bothered to follow the program guidelines. I played at WW for over a year before I got serious and started the big 3… TRACKING, EXERCISE and MEETINGS.
The goal of WW is to teach you how to eat in the real world. If you could do it on your own, why do you weigh a ton? Carve 30 minutes out of your life and go tot the meetings. Meet the others, they are a great resource for accountability and support. Will you succeed on your own, maybe. But if you work the program, you will have success.
