Another set back
I got back into the swing of things now that school has started. Hitting the gym, on the treadmill. However, with each day that I walked, my right knee got sorer and sorer. I could hardly walk on it last wed. after I walked.
Finally went to the Dr. on Friday, and the knee is full of arthritis.
I am on some drugs to take away the inflammation, but if it doesn’t get better, I’m off to another Dr. for an MRI.
I’m pretty discouraged and everything tastes good.

Dang…real sorry to hear about that, Doug. Swimming an option? Biking? We’ll keep you in our prayers. Good luck on both fronts.

Don’t let it ruin your progress. Swimming is a great low impact exercise. You can also do super sets with weights. That will get your heart rate up and make you sweat.

I have had a lot of problems with physical activity, I have to say that moving slower and taking an easier pace is the best thing to do. Don’t feel like arthritis is a easy chair sentence though! I have it all over and nothing is better for it than simple activity. How fast were you walking? I would say, once you are out of pain, see if your doctor will allow you to start at a 1.2 mph pace on a 2% incline. Go really slowly. Just stick to that.
I was biking and my old hip bursitis was killing me. I quit biking and it went away. The problem with obesity is that it just kills our ability to move, but usually once the acute phase is over you can start out again SLOWLY. If you had physical therapy, more than likely they would start you out with flexibility training and walking. Slowly. Take it easy!

Rick and Israel hit the nail on the head… have you thought about water aerobics? Yes, its mostly old ladies, but your overall health & wellness is worth swallowing a little bit of pride.
Plus… they will think you’re cute.
