Finding Motivation

09-04-07

I had a solid start on my journey from fat to fit, posting a 9 pound loss in my first month.  I had expected more, but considering I am on a 2 year plan where I hope to average 4.5 pounds lost per month I guess I should be happy.  And I am.

But, I noticed that since Sunday when I posted these good results that I have cheated a little more than normal.  I had a small bag of fritos as a snack yesterday.  I had another one with lunch today and I also had 3 small halloween sized packs of M&Ms.  I’ve lost weight before and right around the point where people were noticing and giving me positive comments I slipped up and gained everything back.  I can’t let that happen this time.

I wasn’t looking for any motivation this morning but I found it in the way of fellow fatblogger Tony, who while lementing The End Of Summer has posted some really cool water skiing pictures (not to mention a cute kid pic) and a great story to go along with it.  A story about losing something that he once cherished due to fat, and now being able to take it up once again.  That’s way cool.

My goal for September is 8 pounds lost.  I will be attacking that goal with renewed vigor now.  Thanks Tony!

  1. I know how you feel. I was stuck between 168 and 170 for about 70 days. I am just finally moving down in weight and waist line measurement this week. I am looking forward to hitting that 165 since it is only 6 lbs from my goal weight I set back in February of 2007. I am also excited that I am close to breaking 33 inches on my waist measurement (probably around the same time I hit 165 lbs).

  2. That’s what we’re all about, JohnC. Just some fat guys helping some other fat guys to keep in the game long enough to get healthy again.

  3. Thank you John! You being motivated by my accomplishment just doubles my motivation to keep going. It’s the opposite of a vicious cycle…It’s a victory cycle!

I just noticed that we are both fellow Minnesotans. It’s good to have some hometown support hanging around.

  4. Boy has it been a while since I’ve been here. I think it’s because when I switched to my own domain, I lost the fatblogger badge I used to have in my sidebar.

Congrats on your continued progress. I certainly have got to do something since I feel off of my Phoodplan barge some time ago. I’m supposed to be 50 lubs lighter about now. Realistically, I had hoped for about 20. Now it’s time to suck it up and get busy, but with more realistic goals…Like yours. I’ll subscribe, and then I’ll not forget to check back on your progress!

  5. same thing happened to me, i had lost a great amount of weight the first month, but then went on vacation and lost (or rather gained it all back).

it was very disappointing but i know that i need to keep at it and get back on track. good luck.
