Run today

On our vacation, I picked up these New Balance 692 running shoes on sale.  What a difference a new pair of shoes makes.  I ran today at about 1pm at the middle school track, in about 70 degree weather and a light breeze out of the west.  Two miles even, no stopping.  A quarter mile better than I did last Friday when I was up in Couer d’Alene.  I was sucking air for about the last lap and a half or so, but my feet and ankles, and everything up from there, felt great.  Definitely an improvement from the worn-out cross trainers that I was wearing before.

I’m going to be at work in Hermiston for much of tomorrow, so I’m going to take these along with me and try to get another run in before weigh-in at 5.  I can do this.

Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the fabulous work and I look forward to hearing how the marathon goes in a few weeks. :)

PS ~ The shoes look comfy. :)

Thanks…not quite a marathon, just a 5k run, but it will definitely feel like a marathon when I get there. :-) I plan on keeping everybody posted on how it goes.

    Sucking air in CDA, huh?

I think you should just chalk it up to the altitude difference.

I was sucking air both in CDA and right here in Pendle-town. Didn’t seem to make much of a difference.

This whole couch to 5k thing has me intrigued. I’ve been doing very little in terms of exercise thus far in the diet. Having lost some weight, I’m finding it a lot easier to at least go for long walks… Maybe it’s time to think about this some more.

I really recommend Couch to 5k for anybody who wants to get back into some distance running after being away from it for a while.
