It does make sense, you can eat more a 2 out of 7 days as week, as long as your average calorie intake over the week is less than the calories you burn during the week, you'll continue to lose weight. I say if allowing yourself to not diet on the weekend is the difference between dieting and not dieting at all, then go for it. I think it would make things harder for me personally though.

I don't follow it myself every day I think about how to eat better, move more BUT on the Bravo fitness reality show Workout that is how the trainers live. Monday through Friday they live, breathe, work thinking about fitness but on the weekends they eat and drink as they please. Although those serious about keeping a certain level of fitness probably wouldn't go totally overboard - it gives them a sense of living a life with some "yes" times in it.

It is a similar idea to mixing up your calories so your body doesn't get "stuck" at one level - for example one day 1200, next 1100, next 1300, next 1200 - or whatever. By allowing the weekends to be more flexible it accomplishes the same thing, with the added boost of having a bit more freedom on the days that most of us want to relax and more have fun. It's a great tip - just have to be careful to not keep over doing it come Monday morning - especially if foods that were indulged in trigger cravings. Lady Rose

P.S. just added your banner to our link exchange page. Really enjoy your blog! If you are interested just started a fatbloggers united carnival you might want to submit a post or two too.

Hrm, I wouldn't say those are unconventional tips but I agree with all of them. I always recommend to my clients that they have at least 1 "cheat day" per week. This can either be in the was of some beers or wine, cake or whatever - only in moderation of course :)

I'm with Summer. I haven't done anything official on the weekends. I'll sometimes go to the gym with the family. It may not work for everyone, and I'm not sure that it's good for me. It sometimes feels like an alcoholic only drinking on the weekends. It generally doesn't lead anywhere good.

Ahhh, I'm a weekend non-counter myself. I won't say I'm not dieting on the weekends, I just simply don't put the numbers to the calculator. I know that a whole chocolate cake will totally undo five days of good portions and healthy choices, but I do allow myself to relax and just carry the lessons from the week (or at least try to) during the weekends.
