Gettin’ It Over With

It’s Thursday and that means its time to step on the official Weight Watchers scale and hear the news I didn’t want to hear. My ample gut told me that I was going up. I thought for a moment of just going for the meeting and avoiding the scale, but the closer I got to the door, the more resigned I became to just ‘man up’ and reset the week.

Anton, don’t worry about the drum roll this week…

UP 3 lbs. for a total loss of 28.4 lbs.

I feel compelled to offer excuses. Basically, it boiled down to weakness in the face of temptation almost every day of the last week. I will be strong this week! I will be dedicated! I will not allow even the BLT’s (bite, lick, taste) to lure me with their siren song!

A walk in the rain

I walked 4.1 miles tonight, more than I have in quite some time.  And by “walk” I don’t mean a leisurely stroll.  It was definitely a pick-’em-up, put-’em-down pace for most of it.  I completed it in about 50 minutes.   A few thoughts:

  • The levy along our river is a great place to exercise.
  • I really need to go through and weed out the songs on my iPod I keep skipping over.
  • The steady rain didn’t bother me much, but probably would have if it had been much colder out.
  • I need to do this 3-4 times a week.
  • A fat-free, no-sugar-added frozen yogurt at Dave’s is a great treat afterward.  And no, the exercise and the yogurt didn’t cancel each other out.  I still had a lot of WW points left from the day–too many to just leave on the table–and I thought this would be a great way to take in some calories for the evening.

I’ll be at outdoor school with our kids starting tomorrow, so I won’t be around to do any blogging.  As far as I know, the Umatilla National Forest doesn’t have wi-fi yet.  And come to think of it, I’m sure I’ll get in quite a bit more exercise over the next 48 hours, what with our hikes and all.

Forty come Friday.  See you then.

Week 8

I was going to wait until Thursday morning, but I couldn’t stand it, so I went ahead and did the deed tonight.  Drum roll please, Anton…3.8 pounds this week, for a grand total of 31.6 pounds lost since March 4.  This also puts me at the 10% weight lost for Weight Watchers.  I still have another 20 or so to go until I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but I’m definitely encouraged by this.
