Harsh! but real motivation
Below is a statement that I worked through with my Dr., earlier this year. He asked me to post it on my bathroom mirror, and where ever I would see it. When ever I saw it, I was supposed to say it out loud, and also tell a “few” safe friends. It sounds ludicrous when you first speak it, but when I finally thought about it, it was, and sometimes is, true.
Read it out loud, and then do a little self evaluation.
“As it stands today, I prefer to continue living my current
lifestyle, which leads to early death and the abandonment of my wife & family, rather than control the amount and frequency of my food intake, exercise, and feeling my fears.”
Well?

A bit “on the nose”, don’t you think?
I think that’s brilliant. That really is what it boils down to, and when you realize it, it’s serious motivation for change!

Yeah, it’s right on the money. I don’t think it sounds ludicrous at all. Sometimes a little cold, hard reality is just what we need.
Thanks for posting this, Doug. Hope you’re having a good last month or so of the school year.

A bit harsh but it is real.. and real is the only way we can change the things that need to be changed and evolve into the person we want to be.

Okay, this is about where I am — well, with respect to posting something on my mirror that is right in front of my face. I haven’t gone for a walk in a week. I haven’t lost any ground weight wise, but I’m really slowing progress. Thanks for the idea.
