I walked 4.1 miles tonight, more than I have in quite some time. And by “walk” I don’t mean a leisurely stroll. It was definitely a pick-’em-up, put-’em-down pace for most of it. I completed it in about 50 minutes. A few thoughts:
- The levy along our river is a great place to exercise.
- I really need to go through and weed out the songs on my iPod I keep skipping over.
- The steady rain didn’t bother me much, but probably would have if it had been much colder out.
- I need to do this 3-4 times a week.
- A fat-free, no-sugar-added frozen yogurt at Dave’s is a great treat afterward. And no, the exercise and the yogurt didn’t cancel each other out. I still had a lot of WW points left from the day–too many to just leave on the table–and I thought this would be a great way to take in some calories for the evening.
I’ll be at outdoor school with our kids starting tomorrow, so I won’t be around to do any blogging. As far as I know, the Umatilla National Forest doesn’t have wi-fi yet. And come to think of it, I’m sure I’ll get in quite a bit more exercise over the next 48 hours, what with our hikes and all.
Forty come Friday. See you then.

I’m thinking of taking up walking outdoors rather than at the gym. It seems like it would be much more peaceful.
I need to weed out some songs on my iPod too. I find myself skipping over quite a few of them that I’ve gotten sick of hearing over and over again.
I average about 4 miles a day but that’s because I find myself sticking to the same area. I think once I get used to my new home (just moved a few weeks ago), I’ll probably do a lot more.
Walking in the rain can be a lot of fun. I do power walk for a little bit of it to get my heart rate going. Do you power walk or just stroll along with the music?
Good luck on reaching your goal.
Leesha: Yes, walking outdoors blows the doors off of the gym as far as I’m concerned. Even in the rain.
Krissy: It’s a power walk, about as quick as I can sustain for that distance.
