The intangibles
We tend to measure success in our weight loss endeavor by things that we can measure. Pounds and inches lost in x number of weeks/months, for example. Today, I had two things happen to me that we normally don’t measure because, well, it’s tough to place a number on it. But today, I had two people, independently of each other, comment that they had noticed my weight loss (thanks Tracy and Joyce!). They didn’t even know I had been doing Weight Watchers. This was the first time anybody has noticed without me telling them about it firsthand.
And this morning, as I was getting ready for the day, I noticed that I was now buckling my belt comfortably up two whole notches from where I had been when I started this whole thing. It’s not something that I had been consciously doing. Usually, I just put the belt through the loops, yank on it to where it feels comfortable, then find the nearest notch.
So there are always little things to feel good about, even if we can’t put a number on them.
What are the little things you are celebrating with your weight loss?

Hi Rick - Congratulations on your non-scale victories…those are just as important as the scale-related for keeping up the motivation, don’t you think?
Thanks for checking out my blog earlier, I appreciated your comment and I am enjoying FatBloggers.

Oh there is nothing better than people noticing when you’ve lost weight. You really are doing great! It’s so easy to forget the ‘intangible’ victories so thanks for the reminder that the scale isn’t the only measurement (speaking from someone who was up 2 lbs this am — yes just fluctuation right

I love it when I needed to go buy a couple of new belts at around the 30 pound loss mark… And now I’ve had to buy an almost new wardrobe at the 45 pound mark.
I’ve been down to my current 154 for several weeks now, so the number of people noticing has decreased.

I love getting to tighten the belt too!!!
I also love walking in a pair of shorts and them NOT riding up my thighs because my thighs are NOT rubbing together as much as they used to…
