Keep up the great work, guys, I truly value reading your stuff. I’ll need to work on the RSS feed here this week. I will probably need to upgrade to a different account at GoDaddy (one without ads) and make sure that they’re using the correct version of PHP and MySQL that this version of WordPress requires. If any of you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know.
I’m excited about the participation we’ve got right out of the starting blocks. T-1 day and counting for me.

I am so glad that Rick got this thing going. I have been suffering from a lack of dedication to a number of diets over the years. Many of them cost a lot of money, but all of them lacked one thing, group support/accountability. I am glad to have Rick joining me down at Weight Watchers tomorrow night. This plan works, so long as you aren’t looking for a ‘quick fix’. I have been having some great success with it since Jan. 1. As of last Friday, I have lost 19.6 lbs.
I am looking forward to seeing how Pete is fighting the battle as well as any other ‘Fat Bloggers’ Rick can bring into this shrinking band of brothers.

So, this is my first post as a FatBlogger! I am currently at 207 pounds and I can’t seem to get past that. I tend to hover (can a fat person “hover?”) at 205.
I can give you lots of reasons why I am not winning the battle of the bulge –
big portions
snacking
no exercise
lack of sleep
being a couch potato watching the boob-tube
not enough water and too much caffeine
minimal motivation
no time
too many excuses
and more…
I was, at one point late last year, at the brink of breaking the 200 mark — I weighed in at 201 and was doing so well! And then I couldn’t tell you what happened… it just happened… and I was up at 205-ish again.
I weigh myself just about every morning just to see if there is any change… and somehow think that I’ll feel better psychologically if I am anywhere less than 207. I know full well that +/- 5 pounds is really just “water-weight” and not worth counting. I need to be able to lose pounds at an even, consistent rate…
Thus, it begins… my first goal is to get down to or break 200 pounds. I want to do that by the end of this month - March.
And then we’ll move on from there. I’ll check in with progress notes from time-to-time and provide my official weigh-ins on Mondays.

Ok, I’ve stopped and started this thing a couple of times since my first post a month and a half ago. This Tuesday, I’ll be at our local Weight Watcher’s meeting so I can start this for reals. I’ve got the support here, what I need is a plan. I will definitely post my progress here. Right now I’m at zero pounds down, with a lot to go. Two months from today, I turn 40, and I’d like to have something to show for my dieting efforts by then.
Doug asked a great question on my first post, one that I think we need to address here:
What are you doing differently this time that will make the change permanent?
Wow, if anybody has an answer to that, feel free to post away. In fact, I’d like this entire blog to be a group effort, and I invite anybody who’s making a valiant effort to lose weight to be a regular contributor here. Just let me know and I’ll get you signed up. The more the merrier, and all that jazz.
In case you’re turned off by the ads at the top, so am I. I’m using a free hosting account that I had available to me at GoDaddy. If any of you would like to contribute so I can upgrade to paid hosting with no advertising, let me know.
Oh, and I’ve upgraded to WordPress 2.1.2. If you’re a WP user and haven’t upgraded yet, I highly recommend it.
